My name is Rebecca  and I am a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying Exercise and Sports Science on the Fitness Professional track.

I am very active and currently my focus is lifting weights but I also enjoy cycling, trail running, hiking, kayaking, wakeboarding, and water skiing, among other sports.  I played soccer for 12 years, have been water skiing on and off for about as long.  I’ve done triathlons and run races for the 5k, 10k, 10 mile, and 1/2 marathon.

Last year I was a member of the LUNA Chix Chapel Hill Cycling Team and together my teammates and I helped get women active in sport through cycling while also hosting educational clinics on cycling, nutrition, yoga, bike maintenance, etc to raise money for the Breast Cancer Fund.

I’m happy to be part of my local Fleet Feet Community Team this year.  Our goal is to get the community, from children to older adults, to be more active and to live healthy lifestyles.

Right now I’m trying to see how strong I can get.  My 2 favorite exercises are the squat and the deadlift.  I also started learning the Olympic Lifts during the summer of 2011 and I love it!

Currently I’m working on getting my NASM Personal Training Certification and I plan on adding others later on.

I read all the time and like to attend clinics and workshops to learn more about Exercise Science and related topics.  This blog is where I’ll share what I learn. I may also post some of my workouts and training videos from time to time.  :)
